New CITI GCP Course Available for SBS Researchers

Wed, 28th June, 2017

A new Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) course is now available for social and behavioral sciences researchers engaged in clinical trials of drugs, devices, biologics, and/or behavioral interventions.  The CITI Good Clinical Practices for Social and Behavioral Researchers course supports the NIH policy issued September 16, 2016 stating that NIH-funded investigators and staff “who are involved in the conduct, oversight, or management of clinical trials should be trained in Good Clinical Practice (GCP), consistent with principles of the International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH) E6 (R2)”. GCP principles constitute an international ethical and scientific quality standard for designing, conducting, recording, and reporting clinical trials.

To access CITI, log on at http://go.osu.edu/citi with your Ohio State Internet Username (last name.#) and Password. To enroll in the course, click on “Add a Course” and then check the box for “Good Clinical Practices for Social and Behavioral Researchers”.

For questions, please contact Ellen Patricia at patricia.1@osu.edu.

CITI Refresher Cources and Optional Training Courses Available

Sun, 1st July, 2007

The Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI) offers online courses in human subjects protection for individuals conducting and reviewing research involving human subjects. All investigators, key research personnel, IRB members, and IRB staff at OSU must complete required training in human subjects protection by taking the CITI Basic Course in either biomedical or social and behavioral research. Completion of this course satisfies the training requirement for three years.

CITI Refresher Course
Continuing education is provided in a short “Refresher Course” for those who have already completed the CITI Basic Course. Successful completion of these modules will satisfy the training requirement for an additional three years.
Training for all individuals participating on a project must be current for IRB submissions (initial or continuing review) to be processed. As a reminder, an email will be sent to each individual who has not completed the Refresher Course within 60 days of the required renewal date.

Optional CITI Courses
New optional courses that can be used to supplement required training are available to OSU faculty, staff, and students. Free courses are offered in Good Clinical Practice and ICH (GCP), Health Information Privacy and Security (HIPAA), International Research, and Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR). These courses can be used to supplement required training, but may not be used to satisfy OSU requirements for training in human research subjects protection.
