About Us
The Office of Responsible Research Practices mission is to:
- Assist Ohio State faculty, staff and students seeking required research reviews
- Help Ohio State review boards apply transparent and consistent processes
- Ensure regulatory compliance while facilitating research
- Provide education on the ethical conduct of human and animal research
- Carry out quality improvement activities designed to improve review efficiency
- Support Ohio State's efforts in securing and maintaining accreditation for the human and animal research programs.
Services
- Offers consultation about when research or instructional activities involving animals, humans, or biohazards require committee approvals
- Provides guidance on meeting regulatory, university, and sponsor requirements pertaining to research
- Assists with research submissions, reporting, and recordkeeping
- Delivers online and in-person educational programs focusing on ethical research and regulatory requirements for faculty, staff, and students
- Acts as the central resource for research-related questions and concerns for the university and external community
- Maintains the university's federal assurances and executes cooperative research agreements
Hours of Operation
- Research Administration Building hours: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed on holidays)
- Office of Responsible Research Practices hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed on holidays)
