Human subject radiation committee provides review for radiation use in research

Beginning July 1, 2009, the Human Subject Radiation Committee (HSRC) will provide review for procedures involving radiation in human subjects research (excluding radiation for standard medical care). A new IRB application Appendix V and an online radiation dose calculator will be used to assist investigators with review submission. Standard radiation risk language is generated by the dose calculator for inclusion in consent forms. The Office of Responsible Research Practices (ORRP) will forward IRB submissions involving research uses of radiation to HSRC for review.
