Training Requirements

Research protocols submitted to the Institutional Biosafety Committee may be subject to training requirements. Examples of training for various research activities:

Biohazards

Office of Environmental Health and Safety

  • OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Training: Research involving human blood, body fluids, human pathogens, human cell lines, or human tissues.In rare cases, this may apply to non-human primate tissues.
  • Biosafety Level 2 Practices
  • Biosafety Level 3 Practices and Procedures
  • Biological Safety Cabinets

Recombinant DNA

All personnel must be aware of the NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant DNA Molecules and the applicable sections pertaining to their research.

Animal Use

Use of animals in research requires training as a condition of IACUC protocol approval.
