Study Team Requirements

e-Protocol System Access:

In order for any individual to be listed on an Animal Use Protocol they must be provisioned an account in e-Protocol by completing the e-Protocol registration. Individuals who have not registered will not have access to e-Protocol and will not be available for selection as study team members in the system. Registration can be completed at: e-Protocol

Requirements for all study team members listed on an Animal Use Protocol:

Animal Usage Orientation and Training:
Each individual involved in the care and use of animals must obtain a basic level of competency in these areas through participation in either the classroom or in the online Animal Use Orientation Course. This training must be updated no less than every three years. To complete the online course, a score of at least 80% must be obtained on the exam.
Occupational Health and Safety Training:
Each individual involved in an Animal Use Protocol must receive basic training in the use of hazardous chemicals and biological agents/materials through completion of the online Occupational Health and Safety Course. This training must be updated no less than every three years. To complete the course, a score of at least 80% must be obtained on the exam.
Occupational Health Risk Assessment:
Each individual involved in an Animal Use Protocol must have completed a current Occupational Health Risk Assessment via the Occupational Health Registry.
Conflict of Interest Screening/Disclosure:
Each individual involved in an Animal Use Protocol must have a current Financial Conflict of Interest (eCOI) Disclosure with the Office of Research Compliance.
Experience and Training Narrative:
Each individual involved in an Animal Use Protocol must have a current Experience and Training Narrative describing their previous experience and/or training regarding specific species and activities to be performed in all of the protocols in which they are listed.

Additional Hands-on training available:

Although not a requirement, the IACUC strongly encourages hands-on training provided by ULAR staff for procedures unique to your research. More information and a sign-up sheet is available at ULAR Training.
